Paris Independent Schools to Celebrate 150 Years
||Paris Independent Schools has a long tradition of educating children in Paris and Bourbon County. Beginning in 1798 as the Bourbon Academy, and changing its name to Paris City Schools in 1865, this academic institution has established itself as a part of community history. The year 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the Paris School District. A celebration of events is being planned for September including an exhibit at Hopewell Museum. The district is interested in collecting any historical information, documents, photos or items that could be a part of the display. Please contact the Paris Board of Education, 987-2160, or Hopewell Museum, 987-7274, for further information.

2015 Ladyhound Softball Team Rewrites the Record Books
|This year's softball team has done what no other team has done at Paris in fast pitch history: they defeated Bourbon County ending an 88 game losing streak to district competitors, 32 of which were to Bourbon County. In addition, the team has placed third in two different tournaments, won the Bluegrass Conference Tournament for the first time since the Ladyhounds became a participant, scored more runs than any other Paris softball team in a single season, saw a five game winning streak, broke the school record for the most number of wins in a single season, hit the most triples in a single game (6), and had a pitcher throw a perfect game. The ladies look to end the regular season 4-0 for the week of May 11th before heading into district competition versus George Rogers Clark on Wednesday, May 20th at 5:30 in Montgomery County.
