One of our top priorities is active communication with parents and our community.  This website was designed to be a user-friendly communication tool.  We hope you will find the design aesthetically pleasing and the content current and informative. PES holds Spelling Bees
  Congratulations to Andrew Smith (runner up) and Ciara Byars for winning the 4th and 5th grade spelling bee. Ciara will represent Paris Elementary in the city-wide bee. The middle school representative will be determined this week. For pictures of all PES participants, see our district Facebook page.

School Board Appreciation

 January is school board appreciation month. Thank you to our members for the time and energy they put into our staff and students.

End of Semester Events
Thursday was a fun and exciting night for our students. Our middle and high school hosted a student showcase followed by a band concert. The Elementary held its student work showcase for 1st-3rd grade and sang for a huge crowd during their annual Holiday performance. As always, more pictures are available on our Facebook page.

Masons Donate Bikes
 The Masonic Lodge presented bikes to the Elementary as an incentive for perfect attendance.

JAG Students Attend Conference
Two of our JKG students Trey Kenney and Kelly Nguyen attended the National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, DC this week with teacher George Stafford.

Guests Tour Schools
  Today Tinder Harris, Louis Prichard, and Chuck Craycraft toured our schools with Superintendent Ken Bicknell. They were able to see the great things going on in the district and discuss the future of the Educational Foundation.

Students Celebrate Veterans
Elementary students sing to Veterans at their annual Veterans Day program. The middle and high school also held a program for Veterans. You can see more pictures in this weeks Citizen.

Students Teach Hygiene
 High School students in the Academy of Health Science discussed hygiene with elementary students.

United Way Grants
Congratulations to Virtie Kirby and Elizabeth Waugh for receiving classroom grants from donations to the United Way Promise Fund last year. This years campaign runs November 1-21.

Band Advances

Congratulations to our Marching Band of Pride! They placed 4th in Quarterfinals and went on to march in the semi-finals this past weekend. They finished 10th overall!

Get Fit Winners
  Congratulations to PES teacher Amanda McMahon and her grandson John Snapp who won some nice prizes at the Get Fit Finale this weekend. We also had a class who won the community school award for active minutes. That class will receive a trip to Get Air. More on that will come next week.

AOHS Visits UK
Our Academy of Health Science students took a trip to UK Hospital to tour the ER. They were also able to experience simulation labs in the College of Nursing.

Youth Leadership Program
 11 of our Juniors are participating in the Paris/Bourbon Co Youth Leadership Program (formerly Corporate College). Today they visited the Water Treatment Plant and the Police and Fire Stations.

  Congratulations to Homecoming Queen Alexis Ransom. She is pictured here with her father Shawn, last year Queen Lizzie Preston, Superintendent Ken Bicknell, Jackson Norris and Bailey Cline. There are more photos from the Homecoming festivities on our Facebook page and will also appear in Wednesday's Citizen.

Middle/High Grandparents Day
 Middle and High School students hosted their Grandparents for lunch.

Recipe for Life
Our 5th grade students attended the annual Recipe for Life where they learned how to prepare different dishes. Several of our high school students also helped with the event.

PES hosts Grandparents
  Superintendent Ken Bicknell welcomed grandparents at the Elementary last week. Students were able to enjoy lunch and shop the book fair with their grandparents.

New Art Classes
 Part of the Education Grant that PES received was used to provide art classes for each classroom once a week.

Want to Play?
Several high school football players visited 3rd and 4th grade classrooms to talk about their playing experience and promote the Little Hounds program. There is still time to sign up!

Flag Donation
 Kentucky Representative Sannie Overly poses with students, Superintendent Ken Bicknell, and Principal Jami Dailey as she delivered a new State Flag to our campus.

Elementary Receives Education Grant
 PES received an education grant with the help from alums Chuck Craycraft and Bill Alverson. The grant will be used for clubs, art classes, and summer programs. There will be full article in Wednesday's Citizen.

Students Watch Eclipse
 While schools across the state closed for Monday's eclipse, students and teachers at Paris attended and learned about the eclipse and watched outside together.

Grant Received
Thank you to the Paris/Bourbon Co Health Department for awarding Paris Elementary a $40,000 grant for the Early Childhood Healthy Living Program. To read the article click here.

 Students were all smiles this morning as Principals greeted them
 on their first day of school!


Professional Development
 It's August which means teachers are back in the building
preparing for students to arrive!

  Paris Elementary has named Thomas Reed their new Principal. Reed comes to Paris from Fayette County and is excited about this opportunity. Click here to read the full article.
