Principal's Message

Paris High School Principal Joe MatthewsEmail:

We are excited to announce Mr. Joe Matthews as the next principal of Paris High School. Please join me in welcoming him. See below for his bio:My passion for education has grown as my responsibilities for leadership within a school have increased. As a teacher at Milken Community High School, University School of Nashville and East Jessamine High School, I learned the importance of meeting the individual needs of students and the power of literacy in all content areas. As an assistant principal at East Jessamine for 12 years, I learned how to use leadership to influence academic programs and school culture as well as the importance of listening to each student’s story. And, as head principal at Lexington Christian Academy for the last 3 years, I understand the desire for teachers to be seen and heard, the need for communication, the importance of leading by showing or doing, and the power of the student's voice.I am the father of three beautiful young ladies. Maggie will be entering her sophomore year of high school and loves to serve others, ride her bike, and write novels. Millie will be in 8th grade and is developing a passion for singing and drama. Molly, the youngest, is entering the 7th grade. She plays the piano and is a budding runner. My wife René is also an experienced educator. Recently, she started her own business and is now a Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. We have been married for almost 29 years, and we’ve spent most of those in central Kentucky.Having grown up as an Army brat, the closest thing I can call home is 100 acres in a little town called Mexia, Texas, where my mom and dad live. My family loves to visit Mexia where we enjoy fishing, tractor rides, and bonfires that accompany mom’s delicious, southern cooking.
